The program involves sessions designed to ensure a high level of competence and good quality experience in

  • facilitating groups
  • conflict resolution
  • strategic leadership
  • resource and people management
  • visiting, nurturing and caring for people
  • fostering personal and spiritual development and growth
  • outreach, evangelism and community engagement
  • worship and preaching
  • understanding Anglican tradition

Spiritual Direction and Mentoring

At the commencement of each year of the formation programme the participants nominate a spiritual director to assist them to reflect on their relationship with God. The candidate is expected to advise the College Principal  about the frequency of their meeting. The Spiritual Director is not expected to report to the College Principal.

Duration

Initial Ministry Education runs for four years. Continuing Ministry Education (First Years Program) runs for three years. These programs may overlap in some circumstances depending on the nature of the person's appointment and licensing by the Archbishop.

Support

The Diocese is committed to assisting candidates to explore their vocation. The formation process is designed to assist candidates who proceed to ordination to experience the joy and rigour of ordained ministry in companionship with people who will share the journey with them.

Ministry placements may also provide a ministry allowance and reimbursement of expenses.
